The 3rd edition of the Choiseul Africa Business Forum opened with a bang in Casablanca on Thursday, with the participation of big names from politics and business, such as Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and President of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina.
This meeting, which brings together a few hundred economic and institutional decision-makers from Africa, Europe and the Gulf, aims to initiate debate on the actions to be taken to boost the development of the African continent.
Organized by the Institut Choiseul in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprise (CGEM) and the Casablanca-Settat region, this meeting, which is dedicated to sharing experiences and deciphering the trends at work in the African business world, a focus planned in the Casablanca-Settat region. Which makes Abdellatif Mâzouz (President – Casablanca-Settat Region) say: “this edition is entirely devoted to partnership for sustainable human development and the promotion of responsible and mutually beneficial investments in the different areas of the African continent within the framework of a South-South-North Partnership”.
Investment has been fashionable in Morocco since the famous speech of King Mohammed VI, the chairman of the CGEM, Chakib Alj made it a point to specify that “Under the leadership of HM de Koning, the new investment charter currently being rolled out encourages us even more, paving the way for a range of financial and non-financial incentives, accessible to all investors, be they Moroccans or foreigners.” .
As investment is one of the key axes of the Kingdom’s socio-economic revival, the panel will be an opportunity to showcase the new investment and export promotion brand “Morocco Now” to an international audience, aiming to promote Morocco. promote it as a leading industrial platform.
In this favorable climate for international investment, this panel is also an opportunity to present the new vision of the Casablanca-Settat region, in terms of socio-economic development of its territories. A new vision of the region that consolidates Morocco in its leadership position in foreign investment, with the increased competitiveness of its territories on a continental and international scale.
Institutional and private actors thus took turns presenting the great opportunities that the Kingdom in general and Casablanca in particular offer to international and national investors, whether large companies or SMEs, including Moroccans, of the world now love it .
Connected to the whole world, “Casablanca is like a Morocco and an Africa that move, dare and develop underlined Chakib Alj, recalling that more than 600 economic decision-makers from 50 countries participate in this edition, which is held in an unprecedented economic situation, marked by a series of crises and permanent changes.
Morocco is a key player in the inter- and intra-continental dialogue, Alj emphasized, noting that Africa and Europe share the same challenges, including those related to immigration, climate change and supply chain instability. and further strengthen their ties. This is also why the forum has planned a number of panels on cybersecurity, SMEs, health, digital transformation and energy.
At the end of the work, several awards were presented, including the Entrepreneur of the Year, Leading Business Woman of the Year, and Grand Prix Choiseul Africa.
