For students seeking an international education, the BBAs (Bachelors in Business Administration) offer a four-year degree in the world of commerce and management. These courses are taught in major business schools and are set up according to an international model that is very popular, especially in Anglo-Saxon countries.
It’s not easy to choose where to go when the traditional era of post-baccalaureate desires arrives. And it is all the more difficult when the desire to see other cultures is urgent. If you opt for a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), you will benefit from training in an internationally oriented business school with courses taught entirely in English and residencies or internships abroad.
The BBA, a training at bac+4 level
The BBAs are four-year courses that lead to a bac+4 degree, usually with a visa or license. Still unknown in France and much of Europe, these formations are common elsewhere, for example in the United Kingdom. In France, several business schools – ESSEC, SKEMA, emlyon, Neoma, Kedge, etc. – have chosen to develop them to offer courses that meet international standards.
EM Normandie has also chosen to launch a new BBA at its Paris campus at the start of the 2022 academic year. For the school, this program mainly responds to the need of students to go abroad very quickly. “It is not always easy to tell yourself that you will go abroad immediately after the baccalaureate, with a BBA the choice is undoubtedly more obvious.“, confirms program director Pascal Krupka. For 10,000 euros per year (the average price for a BBA), students are guided to management, finance, marketing or to develop their critical thinking.

Internships and studies abroad are central to the BBA degree
This EM Normandie BBA is first taught in Paris for two years, then in the third year students can go to other universities, to Oxford (United Kingdom) – where the school has a campus – but also to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) during the first semester of the fourth year. “It is a professional training : when they are ready, the students are ready to enter the labor market, in France or elsewhere,” adds Pascal Krupka.
The selection to participate in this BBA will be made on file, with an interview in English. An unusual choice, as many business schools have chosen to come together in the common SESAME competition, before receiving suitable candidates for individual interviews. This is particularly the case at South Champagne BS (SCBS), in Troyes, where Wassim studies. A choice he does not regret today.
“We will study all axes of a company, explains the one who is in the third year of the BBA. When you later become a director of a company, you can follow all the work of your employees more easily.” At SCBS these are students who choose where to do their internship and training abroad. For example, in the second half, Wassim chose to fly to South Korea.

The BBA, a course entirely in English
In her fourth year of global BBA at Neoma BS, in Rouen, Marie returns from a year in Lithuania. A period she loved, just like the one in France. “We do a lot of theory, but especially a lot of practice, it teaches us to be independent when we go abroad.”
The entire BBA course is taught in English to immediately immerse students in an international climate. Otherwise, following a common core to understand all aspects of the business, these courses offer many specializations always in a logic of professionalization.
Lanzo, for his part, is in the process of completing his first year at Kedge Marseille’s BBA. He chose this education after being tempted by the “international experience” on offer. If he doesn’t know which field to go into when he leaves school, he knows that there are many choices: entrepreneurship, events, finance, marketing… All that’s left is to choose, thanks to a suitcase full of experience!

The BBA, an atypical but recognized bachelor’s degree
The BBA is an atypical training in the French and European landscape sincet results in a bac+4 level diploma, between the license level (bac +3) and the master level (bac +5). In terms of academic recognition, many BBAs have a licensing visa from the Ministry of Higher Education and have been eligible for a licensing degree since 2021.
This recognition is one of the guarantees of quality, knowing that many BBAs are also registered in the RNCP (National Directory of Professional Certification), a recognition of the Ministry of Labor that certifies the skills, competences and knowledge of the training necessary for the exercise of a profession or an activity related to a professional field.
