Walmart’s turn? The American supermarket giant seems to want to launch in the metaverse. At least that is apparent from the brands that were quietly registered last month.
Walmart launches in the metaverse and cryptocurrency
According to information from the CNBC media, the company registered several trademarks on December 30. They indicate that Walmart wants to offer virtual goodsnon-fungible tokens (NFT), as well as a cryptocurrency.
Not very local, Walmart contented itself with specifying that it ” continuously explored how emerging technologies could influence the shopping experiences of the future. The company has made seven trademark registrations. We don’t have more details on how Walmart plans to get started in the metaverse, but it shows it’s taking the field very seriously.

Big companies are entering the metaverse
Walmart isn’t alone. Ever since Facebook announced it was renaming itself Meta last October, the big brands have burst into this new sector. In December, Adidas sold 30,000 NFTs from its collection. In the Metavers And competitor Nike also showed interest in the topic that same month.
Disney also announced that it was working on its own virtual universe, accessible within its parks. clothing brands, like Gap of Under Armourhave also entered the field in recent months.
