Hermès knowledge school is the training center of the prestigious French luxury brand. It was made in September 2021 and delivers a State Diploma of CAP Leather Goods.
This Friday, October 21, 2022, Maison Hermès announced that it expanded his training together Professional Qualification Certificates (CQP), one to cut, the other to sew. This is thanks to the permission of the French Federation of Leather Goods and the approval of the National Education.
“A graduation internship”
These three formations are located in leather goods hub in Louviers and Val-de-Reuil (Eure) since September 2022. They also include five other leather goods centers of the group: Fitilieu (Isère), Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes), Marthon (Charente), Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Seine-et-Marne) and Riom (Puy-de-Dôme).
It exists 19 Hermès leather goods in France, grouped into nine major poles. The aim of the group is to provide each of these regional nodes with a Hermès School. The first promotion of the Normandy post, each of about forty students, started their training last September. The challenge for the brand is to do two promotions a year.
the chairman of the Seine-Eure Agglomeration, Bernard Leroy (UDI), expressed his pleasure during the city council of this Thursday, October 20, 2022. “Tomorrow morning, Hermès announces the opening of its School of know-how in Louviers. It will be installed in the relay workshops that we have made available to them within the Hub 4.0, pending the end of work on their factory in Louviers, which is due to open in early 2023. It will be a diploma course,” the elected official declared, before ordering all those present in the room not to communicate anything about the matter, as the information is under embargo until 7 a.m. Friday.
200 students per year in France
The École Hermès currently has more than 450 craftsmen-apprentices at CAP Maroquinerie. “Since its foundation in 1837, Hermès has been committed to preserving, transferring and developing know-how and gestures of excellence. Training in know-how, preparing for and passing assessments and tests is provided by skilled in-house trainers,” says Hermes . The latter guide the students during 18 months of training.
Fruit of the historical expertise of the house in the pedagogy of the transfer of its know-how in the field of leather goods, […] this training offer will be available in 2023 and will encompass approximately 200 trainees per year.
4 Hermès houses in the Agglomeration
This will be the fourth branch of the prestigious luxury brand within the Seine-Eure Agglomeration. There is indeed Hermès Vaudreuil Perfume since 1977, Hermès leather goods in Val-de-Reuil since 2017, Hermes Louviers in a few months (in 2023) and finally this Hermès school of know-how

As a reminder, in February 2019, the Hermès group chose Louviers to build one of its factories (leather goods and saddlery). The initial schedule foresaw an opening in 2021 and 250 permanent contracts three years later. But the Covid-19 and containment have been there and construction was delayed. The official inauguration is currently planned for the spring of 2023. However, the leather craftsmen trained by the company will gradually integrate the new walls of Norman leather goods from the first half of 2023.
The Louviers factory will be located behind Hub 4.0, along Avenue Winston Churchill. And because the company had to start its activity and, above all, immediately train its future leather workers, the Seine-Eure Agglomeration rented the Hub 4.0 relay workshops to Hermès.
The partner of the employment office
Hermès policy is the same everywhere. The local employment offices are the main partners for the recruitment of leather craftsmen. In Louviers, the Pôle emploi therefore receives applications which it then refers to the luxury group. In the end, everything goes through the know-how of the Hermès School. It is also possible to apply directly to Hermès through the school’s website.
“We started this Monday October 17 the 14the recruitment promotion for Hermès. It will be for March 2023 integration″, specifies Brice Mullier, the director of the Loverian agency, responsible for the recruitment of the luxury brand for the two sites (Louviers and Val-de-Reuil) for almost six years. “We have two more years of recruitment left, until 2024,” he adds. Since the last half of 2016, almost 350 people have been recruited at Hermès between the Val-de-Reuil and Louviers sites. The selection is tough. “On average, one person is retained for ten candidates,” says Brice Mullier. Thereby, more than 4,000 candidates have tried their luck from the beginning at Maison Hermès.
