Now that the Amazon series The Rings of Power has just finished its run, is Warner Bros. indirectly trying to capitalize on the new wave of interest in The Lord of the Rings? The studio is offering non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from the movies of the same name today and announcing a “movieverse” project.
Lord of the Rings NFTs
The NFTs concerned are: limited editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson. The first drop concerns the Fellowship of the Ring. The purchase of an NFT makes it possible to watch the long version in 4K, as well as 8 hours of exclusive content. It will also come with hundreds of augmented reality images and collectibles. Buyers can also virtually explore locations from the film through menus.
Warner Bros. Vice President Jessica Schell explains that it’s about creating ways to connect fans with this film, which she says is ” timeless » :
“We are always looking for ways to surprise and delight our fans and film collectors, and that is especially the case with The Lord of the Rings. This allows fans a completely new experience of these movies. »
The drop is based on the blockchain company Eluvio, which specializes in media. The drops are offered in an “epic” run of 999 copies, or “mystery” of 10,000 copies.

One movieverse to rule them all
With this initiative, Warner Bros. announces the beginning of its “movieverse”. He is described as ” a whole new way to own, collect and enjoy your favorite movies”. This is a marketplace entirely devoted to the worlds of Warner Bros. movies. It is not yet known which other feature films will be represented.
Warner Bros had already tested the waters a year ago, launching NFTs with the release of the movie The Matrix Resurrections. It appears to be a success as the studio chooses to create an entire marketplace around non-replaceable tokens.
As a reminder, Warner Bros. has very popular franchises, such as the Harry Potter film series, the DC comic universe, the Batman series, or the Ocean’s series. His arrival in the sector could therefore cause waves.
